Cold-climate models, chosen by calculation
We install cold-climate heat pumps that heat efficiently far below any temperature the Lower Mainland realistically sees. Model selection starts with a room-by-room heat loss / heat gain calculation — never a square-footage rule of thumb — so the system modulates smoothly instead of short-cycling, and holds comfort through cold snaps without leaning on expensive backup heat.
Ducted, ductless, or hybrid
Homes with good ductwork usually suit a central ducted heat pump. Character homes without ducts — common in Vancouver and North Vancouver — suit ductless mini-splits, with each indoor head sized to its zone. Larger homes sometimes do best with a dual-fuel setup: heat pump primary, existing gas furnace as cold-weather backup. We quote the configuration that fits the building, not the one on special this month.
Electrical work handled in-house
Heat pump conversions in older homes often need panel assessment, a new circuit, or occasionally a service upgrade. Because NEO Service Tech does both mechanical and electrical work, that's one assessment, one quote and one crew — not a second contractor discovered mid-project.
Rebates, without the runaround
CleanBC and BC Hydro programs regularly offer substantial rebates for switching from gas, oil or electric baseboard heating to a heat pump. Eligibility depends on your existing system and the equipment installed; we identify what applies during the quote so the price you compare is the real one.
